The Tarot. I have a love/hate relationship with the Tarot, but I digress. These illustrations have been keeping me entertained during these dark evenings. I have been drawing the Rider-Waite during the early evening. I have been using some ancient oil pastels which have been lurking in the house since the 80s (naturally). I have been drawing the cards that resonate with how I feel about life at the moment. I have been mentally well for four years and not sectioned in the past four years. I take each day as it comes and consistently count my blessings. I find things like the Malpaper daily planner really helpful, and a walk with my headphones on to something ambient like Erland Cooper or Max Richter is often helpful.
So these drawings: they take time. I usually bust things out quite quickly but these have taken time. "The World” card has taken me 2 hours this afternoon. I have trouble drawing animals but hey ho.
The first tarot card is “The Star”. This image symbolises hope, faith, purpose, renewal, spirituality according to Biddy Tarot. It represents someone listening to their intuition. Which I am trying to do more often. Here is my image:
The next image I felt drawn to was “The World”. The World stands for completion, integration, accomplishment, travel. This is how I feel today. Mentally I feel very well. I am also dreaming of a trip to Paris (is winter in Paris a thing?). I am also hoping to hear about an art studio in my local market town. So hopeful. But even if both don’t transpire I feel positive. So here is The World. The World also symbolises the completion of one stage of life and the start of a new time. It feels very pertinent to me.
Do you use the Tarot?? If I am honest I am more comfortable with affirmation decks and Angel Cards like the ones authored by Doreen Virtue. But I enjoy the imagery of the Tarot. The Rider Waite tarot has a very specific energy. And should be used carefully.
